Ankermoor is 50!
On the 6th of October, Ankermoor celebrated it's 50th birthday. The school was first built back in 1967 and since then has continued to inspire the next generation. As a school then, we decided to celebrate by inviting parents into school for the afternoon to join in with the learning. The teachers added to the enjoyment by each dressing up in 60's clothes. There was some interesting costumes on show. Each class, looked at how everything (clothes, cars, telephones and more) was different back then. Classes talked about anything that was similar still and anything they could see that was very different. A special assembly was put together to celebrate our work and to show off any costumes around the school. The school was then invited outside to take part in a tree planting, which has marked the special day. Planted next to the tree is a time capsule. Each class has drawn a quick picture showing maybe: what the school looks like, what their favourite lesson is or sharing their favourite teachers. Maybe, one day, someone will find it and look back on how far the school has come after the next 50 years. Please click on the link to the left to look at some of the pictures from the day.
